Dưới đây là một số cách nói để diễn tả cảm giác hạnh phúc hoặc buồn bã bằng tiếng Anh.

Diễn tả niềm vui

Bạn có thể dùng các từ sau:

– (absolutely) delighted: vui mừng, vui sướng

– thrilled to bits: rất hài lòng, hạnh phúc

– over the moon: vô cùng hạnh phúc

– really pleased: thực sự mãn nguyện

– so happy: rất vui, hạnh phúc

Ví dụ:

“She was absolutely delighted with her present!”

“Cô ấy rất vui sướng với món quà của mình.”

“Dave was thrilled to bits with his new computer.”

“Dave rất hạnh phúc với cái máy vi tính mới của anh ấy.”

“Jenny’s over the moon with her promotion.”

“Jenny hạnh phúc vô cùng về việc cô ấy được thăng chức.”

Hoặc bạn có thể nói:

– I couldn’t be happier.

Tôi không thể vui hơn được nữa.

– That is fantastic / wonderful / great / marvellous!

Chuyện đấy thật tuyệt vời/quá tuyệt/tuyệt/tuyệt diệu!

Bạn có thể dùng các từ sau:

– really sad about (something): thực sự buồn về (điều gì đấy)

– really sad (to hear…): thực sự buồn (khi nghe…)

– upset / unhappy about (something): thất vọng, buồn về (điều gì đấy)

– a little down: khá là buồn

– down in the dumps: chán nản, thất vọng

– a bit depressed: khá suy sụp

– miserable: đau khổ, khổ sở

– in pieces: tan nát

– distraught: quẫn trí, mất trí

– devastated: sốc, đau khổ

– heart-broken: đau lòng, tan nát cõi lòng

– absolutely gutted: hoàn toàn suy sụp

Ví dụ:

“She was absolutely gutted when she heard she hadn’t got the job.”

“Cô ấy đã hoàn toàn suy sụp khi nghe tin mình không có được việc làm.”

“He was heart-broken at the loss of his wife.”

“Ông ấy vô cùng đau lòng với sự ra đi của vợ mình.”

“We were devastated to hear your terrible news.”

“Chúng tôi rất sốc khi nghe điều ấy.”

Chúng ta có thể nói về sự giúp đỡ, hỗ trợ mà người khác có thể cần khi họ đang trong hoàn cảnh khó khăn.

“She’s going to need all the support she can get.”

“Cô ấy sẽ cần mọi sự hỗ trợ.”

“We’re going to have to rally round them for the time being.”

“Chúng ta sẽ cần phải ở bên họ lúc này.”

“It’s going to take time for them to pick up the pieces.”

“Họ sẽ cần một khoảng thời gian để bình phục”

“They’ll need some moral support.”

Họ sẽ cần một sự ủng hộ về tinh thần

“It’s going to take her ages to get over it.”

“Sẽ cần một khoảng thời gian để cô ấy vượt qua nó”

Nếu một ai đó chỉ cảm thấy hơi buồn hoặc thất vọng, bạn có thể nói:

“Chin up!”

“Can đảm lên!”

“Look on the bright side!”

“Hãy nhìn vào mặt sang sủa của vấn đề nào”

“Oh well, things could be worse!”

“Ô thôi nào, mọi chuyện đã có thể tệ hơn thế đấy”

“Cheer up! It might never happen!”

“Vui vẻ lên nào! Nó có thể sẽ không bao giờ xảy ra nữa đâu”
